Director of Engineering

Full Time Position - San Jose, CA

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

SPT Microtechnologies is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering teams with new product development and sustaining engineering of our existing vertical furnace products.  Reporting directly to the President and COO, this is a highly visible and critical role within the organization.

Job duties will include:

  • Lead and mentor a team of seasoned engineering managers and senior hardware/ software engineers
  • Serve as the main project manager of new product developments
  • Maintain detailed engineering schedule with priorities set by the Product Management team
  • Serve as a technical guide for mechanical, software and PLC engineers
  • Evaluate equipment designs against current SEMI guidelines
  • Ongoing key customer visits in conjunction with Product Marketing to directly understand customer needs

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Graduate degree preferred
  • Minimum of 15+ years’ experience in the semiconductor capital equipment industry
  • Experienced user of SolidWorks and PLC programming tools
  • Proven skills in project management
  • Proven expertise in managing a new product release through the product life cycle phases
  • Self-motivated individual with experience in leading by example
  • Experience in working in an ISO 9001/14001 environment

Procurement Buyer

Temporary Position - San Jose, CA

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for purchasing materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. Qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services:

  • Quoting new and existing OEM products and custom electrical and metal fabrication parts
  • Fulfillment of urgent material needs for production, spares, customer site downs and engineering
  • Disciplined execution of MRP order actions
  • Disciplined maintenance of purchased part MRP attributes (lead time, cost, etc.)
  • Coordination with Planners, Engineering, Production and other Buyers to standardize operating procedures
  • Monitor risk buy consumption, safety stock and provide feedback and recommendations to decision makers
  • Write/edit work instructions
  • Work with accounts payable, to resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Order reschedules/expediting, as needed

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • AA/AS or BA/BS in a related discipline. APICS certification is a plus
  • 3-5 years’ experience in purchasing Electronic Components, Metal Fab., PCBAs, Cables, Quartz, Ceramic, E/M Assemblies and Vacuum Components, is a must
  • Skilled in negotiating price and delivery is required
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) are required. Calm, assertive personality is important for success
  • Established working relationships with local distribution reps and other domestic suppliers are required
  • Working knowledge of the Oracle purchasing module is highly valued
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Able to read and understand fabrication and component drawings

Electrical Engineer

Full Time Position - San Jose, CA

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for all aspects of product development including initial design concepts, detail design, prototype assembly and test, and formal ECO release. This position requires a wide range of electrical engineering design skills including:

  • PLC and PC based control systems (including servo motor and temperature control PID loops)
  • Analog and digital Interconnect cabling
  • Power distribution (including 3 phase power systems)
  • CE and SEMI S2 compliant safety systems
  • Integration of third party devices conforming to industry standards such as DeviceNet and EtherCat

You will be part of a small team of highly experienced engineers with whom you will collaborate on design requirements, approaches, and solutions. Familiarity with PLC programming is required. Experience in the Semiconductor Capital Equipment industry is a plus but not required. Most importantly, you must have a willingness to learn and grow with new challenges.

You will interact with various parts of our organization (Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing, Customer Service, etc.). Your contributions to our success will be visible throughout the company.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum BSEE degree
  • At least 5 years of hands-on product design experience
  • Familiarity with CE and S2 compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with PLC programming
  • Proficiency with Autocad for block diagram and interconnect system (cabling) documentation

Manufacturing Assembly Technician

Temporary Position - San Jose, CA

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Builds and re-builds semiconductor deposition equipment. Assembles, disassembles, and mounts small to medium size high purity vacuum components, vacuum assemblies, cable harnesses, large sheet metal panels, electronic assemblies and electro-mechanical assemblies. Reads and interprets prints and schematics. Participates in team problem solving sessions and various types of meetings. Works with other Manufacturing Groups, Engineering, Purchasing and Quality functions.

Must be able to stand 4-8 hours while performing daily duties. Must be able to lift 10-25 pounds.Works with small hand tools. Climbs ladders up to 25 feet. Works in small equipment spaces. Is required to complete various types of documentation. Performs data entry related to assigned projects.

Systems Test Technician

Temporary Position - San Jose, CA

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The candidate must be able to perform analysis of used equipment and determine what is required to refurbish the equipment to “like new condition”.
Proven experience testing and trouble-shooting automated wafer handling, gas panels, heaters, electronic assemblies, power boxes, controllers and high purity vacuum components. The candidate will be expected to work from technical manuals, specifications, drawings/diagrams, schematics, written and verbal instructions utilizing a variety of tools, test equipment, problem solving techniques and communication skills. The candidate must be a team player and work with minimal supervision.
The candidate will provide guidance to other test technicians and manufacturing technicians. Electromechanical ability is highly desirable. The candidate must have the ability to adjust to changing priorities and maintain an organized work place. Timely completion of assignments is a must.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • AS degree or equivalent
  • The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years proven experience testing and trouble-shooting semiconductor vertical deposition furnaces
